 | 1st Dec 2005 | Bangkok,Thailand Railways
Here are some pics from my adventure overseas. Bangkok, dirty, smelly and some of the worst traffic in the world BUT home of the new MRT Subway and Sky train. When i was staying in Bangkok i used the Sky train most of the time. This was fanstastic. It had no timetable,it just ran every 4 mins all day and night, it stopped at 12am and started at 6am. It was clean, fast and very well organised. What would take 45 mins in a taxi would take 10 mins by sky train. While here also i used the underground MRT, again this was the same as the sky train but under ground. The trains even looked the same as they were made by Siemen, the only difference being the colour of the seats. The Thai government plans to build another 7 underground lines and 2 sky train lines as one is being extended at the moment. The line i was staying on ran from Mo Chit to On Nuts, which was great as this line went to all the tourist attractions including the weekend markets, night markets and big shopping centers. For anyone going to Bangkok, i would ditch using a taxi or car and use the MRT or BTS Sky Train

 | 19th Jan 2005 | Swiss Rail
I have now finished the upload.
From the 27th of December 2004 to the 18th of January 2005 I have been in Switzerland visiting my best mate who lives in Bern. Most of the images in this folder are from the Capital Bern, but there are some from other parts of Switzerland from when I was doing to tourist thing, and of course I got the train to these destinations. The train, tram and bus service is so fantastic with no delays and no cancelled services. I had only one delay while being there and that was due to a broken down tram. Melbourne's operators could learn a lot from the Swiss system.

 | 7th Apr 2004 | Citadis Class Trams
These are the first Low Floor trams for Melbourne tram network. The Citadis Class, first introduced by Yarra Trams (when the tram networ was split into 2 different companies) was built by Alstom in France. They are 3 section low floor trams and offer a new experience in travelling on Melbournes Trams, with 40 seats, new lighting, large windows and more. Tram drivers also got new modern technology to help drive the new tram. Yarra Trams ordered 36 trams, numbering from 3001-3036. They where built between 2001-2002. On the 27th of September 2001, 3001-3004 were handed over to Yarra Trams after a month or so of testing. Over the next 10 months the other 32 sets were shipped to Melbourne, tested and then put into service. These brand new trams are now they icon for the Route 109 Box Hill to Port Melbourne. The trams are a apart of the Project 109. Information on project 109 can be found on the Vicroads website.

 | 4th Apr 2004 | X'TRAPOLIS
The X'Trapolis trains where the new trains for the Connex Trains Melbourne, which entered service on Friday the 27th of December. The X'Trapolis was built by Alstom in France and assembled by Alstom in Ballarat. 116 M Cars have been made and 58 T cars have been made. They have a very modern looking train, using White as the outside colour. The Carbon Steel hasnt been a favorite for the people of Melbourne as it is already showing rust only after a few years in service. The spring suspension also hasnt been a favorite as when travelling over some parts on the network, it can get very rough. The White outside is something new to Melbourne, and has worked quite well and defently been a favorite with the graffiti artist, but is still kept clean. The inside is modern with all the Connex mod-cons including CCTV, Emergency Buttons, Next station display and a inviting look inside the carrige.

 | 3rd Apr 2004 | Comeng Trains
Comeng Trains came in 1981. They came to replace the woodern rollingstock and later the replace the Harris fleet. Arond 190 carrigers where made in a M-T-M compination. They have been referbished in 2000 and 2001. Connex on the 17th April 2004 will have the whole Melbourne Train network. They will change the M>Train livery to Connex livery but more than likely keep the interor of the trains.
